On Wednesday 21/12/2016, ECU proudly hosted Dr. Hany el Nokrashi, the Presidential Scientists and Experts Consultancy candidate for the Arab Republic of Egypt on Solar and Renewable Energy. Dr. Nokrashi presented a lecture titled: “Egypt’s Futuristic Launch in facing a Holistic Approach to Renewable Energy, Water and Habitat”.
Both Dr. Mohamed Essam Khalifa, acting President of ECU, and Dr. Aly Abdel Razek EL Sharkawi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, in addition to a large number of administrative staff, faculty, faculty assistants and most of the enrolled students attended the lecture showing deep interest and enthusiasm in the topics discussed which included: –
- The deep rooted global needs of electrical energy and the decrease in the availability of extracted fuels like Petroleum, Natural Gas and Coal.
- Maximizing usage and benefits from newly utilized renewable energy sources such as solar and wind as sources available throughout the year. In addition to the challenges and constraints caused by the high demand on Petroleum and Electrical energies in Egypt and the increase in the prices of Petroleum Barrel globally and the Government’s subsidization plan.
- A thorough explanation of Solar Energy Stations with thermal storage which allow the storage of Solar Energy in a mixture if salts for usage after sunset which covers the national demand.
- Models of Solar Energy plants used effectively in various countries were also displayed.
- The economic feasibility of Solar Energy usage and its superiority over the use of Petroleum energy economically and environmentally.
Dr. Nokrashi then conducted a question and answers session where he led an extensive explanation on all questions asked by the attendees and the expectations for Egypt in the future. The day was a successful one and Dr. Nokashi was happy with the knowledge he managed to share with ECU students, faculty and staff.
On Wednesday, 4/1/2017, ECU received a visit from officials at The Egyptian Forensic Agency consisting of Dr. Mohamed Zeidan, Head of Forgery Unit in Tanta and Dr. Mahmoud Matar. The agenda for the visit was to discuss the scientific and research problems facing the agency and the proposed recommendations and solutions that ECU can contribute for the solutions of these obstacles.
Dr. Essam Khalifa, acting ECU president discussed the technical problems with the Agency’s equipment and how ECU can contribute Engineering expertise in terms of mending, maintenance and programming to handle the problem solving and get the machines into working order and maximize its functionality by also providing specialized computer systems specific to Forensic identification processing and archiving.
The Agreement stated that ECU Engineering students will be handling the fixing of equipment at various branches to start with, and developing the data analysis and archiving computer programs needed for the various forensic processes.
On Tuesday 13.12.2016, ECU hosted a student entertainment trip to Arabian Nights Resort in Fayyoum governorate. 31 students participated in the activity in addition to 4 supervisors from the Office of student’s affairs.
Students sent the day having access to various activities starting with enjoying the sunshine by the swimming pool, horseback riding, healthy lunch, colors festival of painting, Dj Music and singing contests in addition to Motor bikes safaris.
The trip lasted from 9:00 until 22:00 when the buses returned safely to the University Campus. Students feedback of the day was a joyful and many recommended that such activity to take place again when possible.
On Wednesday 07/12/2017, ECU students went on a field trip to the Police Academy at the 1st District. The trip was headed by Dr. Mohmed Essam Khalifa, acting ECU President along with 2 faculty members namely, Dr. Sherine Moussa and Dr. Doaa Magdi in addition to 2 office of students’ affairs supervisors, namely Mr. Mazen Gamal and Mr. Mohamed Abdel Maksoud. The trip consisted of 28 students who boarded the buses from the university campus heading to the Police Academy at 10:30.
They were welcomed by the Head of the Police Academy General Mohamed Abdalla el Sherbini and a group of its top officials. The day started with a lecture on the history of the place and its history and the Academic methodology and strategy provided to its students. A number of photographs were captured to commemorate the day and of the top students at both Universities.
A tour of the Academy, gave access to ECU students to visit some of its most interesting sections like the Psychological evaluation sections, the K9 training sections, The Shooting range, the Cavalry and Horse Regiment troops, the training range and the Special Operations officers training. The youth from both Universities were happy to meet and exchange future plans before the trip returned to ECU Campus at 15:00.
